Frank B. Miller, M.D. Surgery Resident Education and Medical Mission Fund Presented by: Matt Benns, M.D. Dr. Frank Miller was a beloved member of the Univ. of Louisville community for over forty years. Dr. Miller gave much of his life to the university, as Chief of Trauma at University Hospital, the Division of General Surgery and an outstanding surgeon, teacher and mentor. Two of Dr. Miller’s brothers have created the Frank Miller, M.D. Surgery Resident Education and Medical Mission Fund. e would like to thank Mr. Don Miller and the entire Miller family, as well as Frank’s partner of over 40 years, Pat Hunt, for the continued support of the Dept. of Surgery, in Frank’s name. Hugh C. Williams, M.D. Travel Scholarship Presented by Dr. Farid Kehdy Mrs. Hugh C. Williams Luckett established an award in memory of her late husband, Hugh C. Williams, M.D., for his outstanding contribution to the Department of Surgery and the School of Medicine. Presented annually, this award is given to a deserving scholar who plans to train in another institution of excellence. Gerald M. Larson, M.D. Award (formerly the William L. Brohm Award) Presentation by: Dr. Matt Benns Dr. Larson was a graduate of the University of Minnesota School of Medicine. He completed his Internship and Residency at Boston University. Following his Residency he completed a Surgical Gastroenterology Fellowship at the University of Illinois where he remained on the faculty for several years. In 1980 Dr. Larson joined the University of Louisville faculty where he remained teaching Residents and Students until his retirement in August, 2017. Dr. Larson was the Director of the Surgery Student Education program for many years and he continues to assist with lectures and mentoring the students. Dr. Larson created a gift in celebration of his career at the University of Louisville. Robert L. Fulton, M.D. Award Presentation by: Dr. Christopher Murter Dr. Fulton was both a Resident and Faculty member of the Department of Surgery for over 30 years. He was an outstanding teacher and mentor. This Award Is selected by the General Surgery Chief Residents and is presented to the faculty member who best demonstrates the leadership, technical expertise and clinical judgment of a true surgical role model.
